CREMATION TRENDS

Cremation is a growing trend in the United States, by 2010 cremation may be included in 40 percent of funerals, according to Cremation Association of North America. Alternative methods of burial are being looked at, including eco-friendly or “green burial,” for a burial that impacts the earth and its surroundings less. The selection of a green burial is leading to the popularity of a new memorial method “reef burial.” Don Brawley, founder of Eternal Reefs Inc. says “You’re seeing a change culturally. Rather than passing down an urn to future generations or taking up space in a cemetery, this memorial is a true living legacy.”
