THACKER PROMOTES TONYA SWEETWOOD

C. J. Thacker, President of Thacker Caskets, Inc. has announced that long time employee, Tonya Sweetwood, has been named Director of Purchasing for Thacker Casket Manufacturing in Florence, Alabama.

Tonya is well known to many mid-western Funeral Directors. She joined Balanced Line Casket Company of Cambridge City, Indiana in 1986 where she served in the capacity of Office Manager. In 1999, Balanced Line merged with Thacker Caskets, Inc. Tonya has enjoyed 22 years serving leading Funeral Directors.

In her new role, Tonya will assume primary purchasing responsibility at the new, 210,000sqft Thacker Casket Manufacturing facility in Florence, AL. Tonya and her family have relocated to Florence. “I am eager to tackle this new responsibility, and excited for the opportunity to learn a completely new aspect of the funeral supply industry” said Sweetwood.

The Thacker Family is proud to employ over 180 workers in Florence. Plant Manager Jim Spinks noted that a second shift has been added to address increasing demand for Thacker products. As other casket companies are closing their US factories and sending jobs to Mexico or China, the Thacker’s are committed to “made in America” and keeping needed jobs here in the USA.
